Seatown, Cullen lies on the Moray Firth coast just 10 minutes drive from Banff. The Seatown has a unique relaxed small-village ambience with the nearby practicality of Cullen's amenities. The Moray Firth coast is lined with picturesque fishing villages; each with their own character and waiting to be 'discovered' and explored! The tidal harbour is only a few metres from the cottage, although no longer a fishing harbour, it is used by yachts and at low tide, can be walked across. Our cottage and the village are ideal for family holidays. With beaches, play-park and rock-pools close by, children can play in relative safety - every day is an adventure. Although it is many years since the train wound its way down the hill and over the spectacular viaducts, the old railway line has been preserved as a unique footpath and cycleway connecting neighbouring villages. Cullen has a few hotels, restaurants, cafes and fish & chip shops. A typical range of village shops are available including a pharmacy, newsagent and post-office. One notable attraction is the renowned Cullen ice-cream shop, which folk come from miles around to sample. It is a popular stop for travellers driving along the Moray firth coast road. Our cottage is located in the Seatown area of Cullen, which spreads along the harbour and beach front towards the 18 hole golf course. Seatown has a mixture of holiday cottages and local residents' cottages. Cullen is an ideal base for a number of holiday pastimes: - Ideal cycling country - along the old railway line is safe for family cycling while the relatively quiet roads, low rainfall and stunning coastal scenery makes for good road touring. - Walking - again the old railway line is a safe and enjoyable route with or without the family. The beach is a favourite walk with the sea and sky never the same, depending on tide, weather and time of day. For longer walks, try the coastal routes towards Sandend in the east and Portknockie in the west. - Golf - the small 18 hole course is ideal for families and beginners alike, with several challenging courses a short drive away at Buckie, Lossiemouth, Banff and Macduff. - Wildlife - dolphins, whales seabirds are regular sites off Cullen Bay. From the shore, you can often see dolphins jumping in the bay and for the more adventurous there are wildlife spotting boat-trips available nearby.
